WATER

Water is a real area of focus for us and we have more than 30 years’ experience advising clients in the UK and worldwide. We work with many of the leading organisations in the sector, including water and sewerage companies. Our experience and knowledge of the sector means we are adept at navigating the regulatory environment our clients operate in. We can also advise on the feasibility of establishing and managing a water company captive. On the risk management side, we work with our clients to create a matrix of major threats and suggest ways of managing them.

Water Treatment Consultants

The Approved Code of Practice for the control of Legionella bacteria in water systems is issued by the Health and Safety Executive. Known as ACOP L8, this gives practical advice on the requirements of the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Act 1999. ACOP L8 requires that regular water system risk assessments and necessary remedial works are carried out to achieve ACOP L8 compliance.

If you provide ACOP L8 water system risk assessments for your clients, you have a duty of care arising from the advice you provide. Therefore, it may be advisable to buy professional indemnity insurance, which will cover your legal liability for any financial harm caused to your clients by an alleged breach of your professional duty. Kingsbridge can help you decide whether this cover is necessary to protect your legal liability, and advise you on the most suitable options for water treatment consultants.

Water And Waste Water Treatment Contractors

At Kingsbridge, we found that water treatment contractors and consultants were having difficulty obtaining appropriate insurance protection – and at the right price. This lack of affordability and availability resulted in many water treatment companies buying inappropriate cover, particularly for public liability insurance, where cover often excluded the main areas of risk and business activity. That’s why we developed an insurance scheme specifically for companies involved in supplying water and wastewater treatment and water hygiene services. Standard cover available can include:

  • Business contents at own premises
  • Business interruption
  • Contract works
  • Own plant and hired in plant
  • Health and safety support
  • Assistance with contract reviews
  • Business continuity planning
  • Legionella Control Contractors

This lack of affordability and availability resulted in many companies buying inappropriate cover, particularly for public liability insurance, where cover often excluded the main areas of risk and business activity.

A standard policy simply will not do – even if your insurer is aware of your business activities. This is why we have developed our own recommended policy cover, which includes:

  • Your legal liability for claims arising out of legionella
  • Professional indemnity in respect of risk assessments and associated training and advice
  • Failure of your products to perform their intended function

We also maintain close links with all the appropriate trade associations involved in your industry – which helps us to keep up-to-date with the latest developments. Kingsbridge is well known in this sector for providing expert advice and competitive quotations. We can often provide you with wider cover and reduced insurance costs, and will be happy to offer you quotations and advice before your insurance is next due for renewal.
